You need to make sure that if you are carrying water in hard plastic
containers and recommending those for other people on your trip that they
are new containers, (manufactured within the past several months).
Otherwise the bottles contain BPA which is carcinogenic. The bottles need to
say that they are BPA free.
REI's website separates them out:

non-toxic hydration.)
All Nalgenes contain BPA. Nalgene says their bottles are safe. However many
stores will not sell them anymore. Mountain Equipment Co-op is the largest I
know of.
Here is an article about BPA: http://www.ems.org/pr/bisphenol_a.php
Switch to bladders, safer, not water issues, better hydration and you leave
a lot of weight behind.
For drying platypus and bladders, find something even a plastic coat hanger
and put it in the bottle and hang them upside down so they drain. It might
take a couple of days but they eventually dry. Shoot a hair dryer in them
if your humidity is too high.
