Gutter spikes are pretty long, so I used a paper towel center core.

" The one drawback of gutter spikes is they are sharp and willl cpoke a hole
in anything. I wrap them in a small but heavy piece of canvas."

We placed our gutter spikes in a cardboard toilet paper roll, before putting
them in a pouch or ziplock - the perfect length and lightweight - easily
holds the 8 spikes that each member is required to carry.
