A BIG ditto on that. Plus, couldn't they spring for some bread
with the chuckwagon dinners. like they did 4 years ago?

Unbelievable! The Ranger should have known better. We heard about
this practice and the Crew promptly decided to ban it.

We camped at Crags and Lambert's and I echo your sentiments

What time did y'all get up and did this follow Mark Anderson's
stern admonitions about NO night hiking?
The only reason I mention this is that we camped at Schaeffer's
Pass and heard several crews coming thru at 2 and 3 AM. There was a moon,
but not that much light.
Rules is rules and you can't follow them only when it's
convenient. Personally, I wouldn't risk my bones or my Crews just to get in
to base camp early. We broke camp at 5 AM and had plenty of light, time to
side hike the Tooth and got into base camp at about 1 PM before it rained
or got too stinkin' hot.
