I would be inclined to say no. If we're just talking about the spigot, I'd
say it should have been dropped into a pot of boiling water.
If we're talking about the threads on the container, I'd say dip that part
into a pot of boiling water. Fully boiling water seems to be the safest bet
most of the time.
