I had a similar experience recently. A former District Chairman I worked
with while I lived in Florida just got back from God's Country. When I was
in Florida I told him that he needed to take his son on a trek.
This volunteer is an Eagle Scout, did the 57 & 60 Jamborees, but never made
it to Philmont. During my tenure in Florida, I constantly "bugged" him about
it. They went this year. I got a phone call from him on Friday thanking me
for pushing him.
It was really rewarding to hear him go on and on about the magic, we all
know, that is Philmont. I guess if I can't be on a trek at least I can talk
people into going.
