I can top that!
When I went in 2000, I bought the belt, buckle, etc. But in a hurry, I didn't check the actual size of the belt. Somehow I grabbed a 34 that was on the 32 rack. So I didn't notice till I got home, 22 hours away. Luckly my dad and I amde a compromise. He gets the new belt so he can wear it, and I get his old belt to wear, a size 32 from 1969. And I've worn it for 2 years now, and who knows how many years he wore it before that. Very nice belt! Just shows that they will last with some good care.

I figure when I wear out a Philmont belt, it's time to go back!!!!!
I know folks who have had their Philmont belts for 10 -15 years. I definitely don't want to wait that long. I told my wife when the pencil I got at PTC is gone we'll have to go back and get a new one.
Happy Trails,
