RE: [Philmont]: leaving tomorrow

Good luck and best Wishes! Philmont bus is normally there to meet treks.
(They missed me last week - lone PTC arrival and early). Raton Train Station
Lady was kind enough to page PTC Bus Driver (no response), then the Philmont
Center, and they sent ride one hour later. Train arrived 30 minutes late and
PCC trekkers were there to meet and go home. PTC bus drivers just did not
have me on his pick up schedule. Leaving Raton, PTC got me their on normal
departure time, but train was over two hours late, longest two hours wait of
my life. Should not be a problem for trekkers but just in case. I was only
30 minutes late upon arrival to Raton, normally train is two hours late,
plus. They had BEAR back wood sightings there last week, I heard while I was
there. But I was at PTC, not PCC, so not real sure. Gift Shop is always busy
and full, but a lot of cool souvenirs - kids love! Philmont sells over
14,000 t-shirts per year , now add two more to that list! Everybody I
talked to at PCC and PTC loved it! As I am sure you and youth Scouts will

Thanks so much for all the info from this group. I'd been a crew advisor in
1999 (8-08C1) but I have learned so much more from all of you, and I am
grateful.

We're leaving on the train tomorrow from the Los Angeles. It is very
special for me to trek Philmont again with my younger son.

Will post again when we return.
