In Denver, there is group camping at Cherry Creek Park in Denver
(

)
If you are interested in hotels and restauraunts, then there are all the
usual hotel chains along 225 and plenty of good restauraunts.

On our way to Philmont 3 weeks ago, we camped near Colorado Springs and
visited the Olympic Training Center, The Garden of the Gods, and Pikes
Peak. There was a lot more for the boys there than in Denver. We
camped at a place near the entrance to Pike's Peak that I wouldn't
recommend. There are plenty of places listed on the Colorado Springs,
Manitou Springs and Cascade web sites. The boys enjoyed the stay in
Colorado Springs and it gave them a chance to get aclimated to an
altitude above the sea level they are used to in Maryland.

I wanted to thank everyone who has provided information to this message
board. We gleaned a lot of good information which helped to make the
trek a success. It was my first time and I didn't know what to expect.
 And yes, old guys (58) like me can make it.
