Actually, food is packed in bags for two people. Here's a rough estimate to
get you in the ballpark for training:
Four full days of food for two people would be 12 bags. That would split
among the two eaters to six bags each. The volume of each food bag (on
average) would be approximately a gallon - so a stuffed gallon size ziploc
might be a good simulator. My guess is that the weight of each food bag
would vary between 1 and 2 pounds.
Don't forget to add three quart size Nalgenes of water for another six
pounds to your pack.
