All of your suggestions for food are GREAT, but I still think it is a good idea to buy PHILMONT food for one tune up before you go.  The prices are really good!!! 

I think the scouts need to SEE the size of the bags they'll be stuffing in their packs when there actually get to Philmont.  When we picked up 72 bags of food at Ute Gulch this summer (8-04 N1 2003), it was not quite as big a surprise.

We had a great time on Trek 6 this year, hello EVANSTON if you're in the group.
