The best source for silicone coated nylon tarps that I have found is a web
site call www.cookecustomsewing.com. Our Crew, 721I-1, used their 10x14
1.1oz tarp this year and it weighted only 24oz with rope included.

are not immediately apparent. I've been looking
at getting a crew tarp
for our shakedown hikes, and to avoid having to use
one of the
expedition-weight Philmont tarps when we get there. Does anyone
have any
experience with these pro or con?

Also, I've seen several references
to crews using a 12' x 12' tarp, but the
largest size I'm seeing commonly
available is 10' x 12'. Does the extra bit
of square footage make enough
difference to warrant continuing my search?
Suggestions for sources?
We'll have a full crew of 12 hikers.

>Ched Hudson
ASM, Troop
