Well is the aroma butterscotch or vanilla? I always enjoy playing a game
of getting the scouts to smell the Ponderosa Pines. I usually smell the
tree and say out loud the aroma I smell, butterscotch or vanilla. The
ranger comes back with an agree or disagree statement. We then ask the
scouts what they think and usually get a response like we are trying to make
them look stupid. The first boy that smells the tree gives off a big "wow"
and the others run over to smell for themselves.
Glad to hear you got the resin off the tent except for the Philmont
character that was left behind. My backpack has a resin stripe straight
down the middle of the back from a time I leaned against a tree for a rest
while climbing Mt Philips. Every time I saw it while backpacking this
summer it reminded me that "I want to go back to Philmont".
