It is much easier to increase crew members (up to 12 per crew) than to
decrease the number of crew members as you will lose money if someone
drops out and you can't replace them.
You may add additional crew members (up to a maximum of 12) through the
time the final payment of $222.50 per crew member is due March 1. Looking
at the financial statement that Philmont provided after your $50 deposits
were sent in will explain how "adds" and "deletes" work.
My advice is to not add the additional crew member to your crew until you
make the final payments due March 1. If you add the additional crew
member when the next payment is due October 1 (you will have to pay
$272.50) and someone drops out between then and March, you'll wind up
forfeiting the $272.50.
If you wait until you send in the final payments due March 1 to add the
crew member, you will pay the entire fee of $495.00 for the additional
crew member.
