$5000? Now that is a big crew. My October installment is something closer
to $1500 for a 7 member crew.

I would guess that Philmont has depleted the first round of crews that
were returned in January. That was when the $50 reservation fee per trekker
was due. The next payment for the 2005 season is due on the first of
October and there are usually several crews that drop out. Sometimes crews
just can't get the commitments to cover the $5000+ (non-refundable) 1st
installment. The final $5000+ is due on March 1st.
