I'm a little late to this discussion (having been at Philmont last week). I
just wanted to point out that the BSA Web site includes a searchable
directory of council-sponsored high-adventure programs at
<http://www.scouting.org/boyscouts/directory/index.html>
http://www.scouting.org/boyscouts/directory/index.html.

No troop should miss out on high adventure just because they can't get into
Philmont. Give Philmont a shot, but then look elsewhere if you don't make
the list!
