Calling all Philmont Songmeisters.
A couple of months ago, I put out a review of the Philsongs II CD (Live
at the Tooth), indicating that my personal favorite on that compilation
is "Edge of Texas". I have figured out the chords and lyrics, except
for one phrase, that being at the end of the second verse:
A knock on my door - from a friend from long ago
Said I'm headed out for Texas - won't you join me on the road?
Ain't no rhyme or reason - just look what is lost
So grab your bags and cowboy hat - and ____________________.
In a song that is otherwise extraordinarily crisp and deft for a live
performance, Rod basically just mumbles this phrase, and I have no good
idea of what he's saying. Anyone out there with a clue?
Note that Peter Crook's email address from the PSA staff directory is
deader than a doornail. However, Michael Hearne (another New Mexican
musician) includes this song on his live album (Live at the Old Blinking
Light), so that's another possible source if you have that CD.
