It has been great seeing the notes from those returning. Us west coasters,
with school getting out in late June and starting back in Sept. tend to do
the late treks. Not to mention waiting for my son to get back from Jambo.
He's home for a whole day before we go. We're taking our entire troop
green bar folks, it will be interesting how the troop gets on without them.
Only one from the Crew.
We had our pack inspection Sunday. One of the boys had all new clothes,
still in the packaging, packed in his backpack, no sleeping bag, no ten
essentials, obviously didn't take things too seriously. Funny, at our last
prep, he had everything. Had a lot of fun with that with the other boys.
I suspect he may not do that again. We'll re-inspect him at the train
station.
We lost one of our adults to a last minute business trip, so we are down to
two. The other problem this caused is the train tickets. We got two youth
half price with each adult, so had only paid one full fare for a youth.
Now,
without the adult, the two half price tickets should switch to full price.
From
a total $ perspective, that's a wash, but it just adds to the PITA factor
:-)
We went over the uniform expectations, have all our paperwork (two last
minute, bless their souls). You may have seen my other email regarding
our snafu arrival plans. Funny thing is, we did the same thing two
years ago. I guess some of us never learn.
Not seeing a lot of options for side hikes on Itinerary 2. Anyone have
any insights? We were thinking of going back to the black powder
program the one day, but other than that, we aren't seeing too many options.
