Trek #8, classified as typical, includes Baldy but doesn't include Burros
so that one seems to be an option. One of our crews did #8 last month and
enjoyed it.
Treks 24 (strenuous) and 31 (super strenuous) also include Baldy but no
Burros.
To me, this means there are adequate options for crews to hike Baldy and
not take the Burros...if that's what the young people want to do.
BTW, I've never met a young person who didn't think the Burros were a
highlight during the trek. On the other hand, I've met several adults who
didn't like the Burros and we've heard from several on this forum too.
My advice to adults is to let the young people choose their treks,
including a trek with Burros if that's what they want to do.
