I have attended both Philmont and Northern Tier with an 18 yr. old ADULT as
our 3rd leader. No one said a thing.
I have also attended Philmont with an 18 yr. old YOUTH. He turned 18 on the
trail, mid trek.
It all depends HOW the 18 yr old is listed on the paper work.
I think it is really nice to have a college age leader. Like the 3rd asst.
position for the Jamboree troops. The scouts connect to that person in a
different way than a more "experienced" adult leader.
