[Philmont]: 22 year old advisors

I have to weigh in on this one. I agree with the folks who say it depends on the individual and some could do it well, others not so well. As an example, once upon a time I knew a 23 year old scouter who would have been the very first person you would want in a backcountry emergency. Very physically fit, a cool head and a quick thinker with many skills. On the other hand, where I would not have trusted him as much was to get my son to Philmont in the first place. In casual, public situations, he could easily end up acting more like a kid himself who did not always show good, common sense judgment that one tends to naturally develop through years of experience, especially when one becomes a parent. So, it does indeed depend on the individual. I would personally want a lead advisor who himself/herself was a parent. By being a parent, I feel that person would have a better understanding of the awesome responsibility of watching over someone else's kid on a big, potentially dangerous adventure.
