So we forced it down. Heavy sugar and starch, light protein and carb.
What are they thinking?"

I understand that personal tastes range all over the board, but my goodness,
to call the trail food awful and inedible??? You had to force it down? I
couldn't disagree more. Granted, there were several meals that we wouldn't
want served at home, but all in all, the food got eaten, we had plenty of
energy on the trail and no one went away hungry. Once or twice, it would
have been nice to have a little more, but we were fine.

Our crew's personal favorites were the beef stroganoff and spaghetti. The
Chinese rice dish (can't remember the exact name) was pretty good, too.
Black beans and rice, however, made it on the list of "least favorite
meals". In spite of that, we ate every scrap.

Everywhere in America, people complain about "camp food". From our
standpoint, Philmont did a pretty good job providing us with decent food and
energy for the trail.
