We were in IW on August 10. There was a 3 foot rattler in
our campsite. I nearly stepped on it going from the Bear-muda
triangle to our tents. We get plentty of rattlers here in
Calif. but that is one of the biggest I've run across. The
Phil rattlers are also rather fat compared to their slender
Calif. cousins. :-)
Back when I was a scout (70s), it was our regular practice to kill,
cook and consume any rattler we came across (they are quite tasty).
Now they just tell us to stay away from them. Times change.
