I am from a Jewish troop and per our dietary needs we
can not use the regular food philmont issues. Both
times we have contacted philmont ahead of time to find
out what items they will be having that year which our
crew can eat. Many of the snacks Philmont supplies are
Kosher (this is a hebrew word meaning permitted. i.e.
the food is ok to be eaten by a jew.) We then bring
our own food to supplement what philmont can give us.
When we get to philmont we have to bag the food
philmont supplies for us and our food into individual
bags per 2 people per meal. We then label the bags for
which meal they are intended and they are placed in
boxes depending on when our pick up point is. Philmont
delivers the boxes to the appropriate commisaries and
they are held for us until we arrive.

Philmont has not been able/willing to refund a portion
of the money used for food. Still not sure what the
reason for that is, but will try to find out for 06. I
do not know if Philmont would let other crews do the
same without a valid reason.
