You can bring all of your own food. I did for my trek last year, I ate
none of the Phil Phood. While I was there, a Jewish troop was sorting
out their food for the entire crew, so they could eat Kosher. Just
follow the directions for special diets.

No - not in the least. In our case, we divvied up the extra food among
the crew, and left the extra stuff in the swap boxes.

No, you can completely swap your own food, and not take theirs. They
will mark it and have it at your food drops. I also put in a few
extras - some Jiffy pop and extra batteries that I didn't want to carry
all ten days.

We did itinerary #2 last year, and I never encountered that. I wonder
if that's new, or just a staff member "law?" That's too bad though, it
kind of defeats the purpose of the boxes....
