I agree. Not every human nose can detect traces of odor. Some, however,
can. If you have a person who can detect a trace of an odor it can be
useful to get their opinion. But, you're right --
when in doubt put it into the bag.

This is true. Hopefully, though, the critter hasn't located this alarm
because
of some odor on the cookware. Cookware needs thorough cleaning to rid
it of food odors and then several rinses with clean water to rid it of the
soap odor.
