<<At least that way they are getting used to the idea of
space requirements. And added to what we will otherwise be carrying, it
might get them to thinking anyway. The added weight doesn't hurt
either. Those that don't have pets can donate their food to the animal
shelter when we are done. >>

As I was whizzing through the posts today, several suggested but did not reveal new recipes.

Then I came upon Roy Fishers where he gets his crew to bring along some pet food on the shakedown hikes. I was really anticipating a new and unique recipe for one pot meals made of Puppy Chow. How disappointing to find that the bottom line was donating it to the animal shelter.

And I thought I was goign to read a new recipe for those who dislike PhilPhood.

You know today we rehearse into oblivion. There is a lot to be said for discovery and learning at Philmont. How boring life would be if we did not have something to complain about. Complaining about food, especially camp food is an American tradition.,

Fact of the matter I complained about Army food when I was in that band of merry men, but you know what? I stood in line for it, took all they would give me and came back for more when allowed. And it was good too. Even the SOS.

Speaking of Refried Beans. I'm glad to see Philmont including them. When I ran across the first package I saw in a grocery store in West Texas, I wrote to the ranch recommending they look into them. Maybe my suggestion did some good. Maybe they did it in spite of my suggestion, but all in the same, they are pretty good fare.

The post about the Marine and her trading jinks with MRe reminded me of the good old days in the Army and trading of the older C Rations. Yep, you could get just about anything you wanted if you were lucky to have drawn a can of "beans and franks" which translated to "Beanie Weanies".

And so on it goes, the march toward food perfection.
