<<Somewhere I read/heard that evaluation comments on the
meals are recorded and the most complained about meal is dropped the
following year. Of course, that does not mean it is replaced with
anything great. And as Pete said, everyone has different tastes... Bringing some
extra ingredients gives you a lot of options to enhance the meals.

Not so many years ago, I learned to carry a food repair kit with me. It works equally well on food of my own choosing as well as that wrought upon my soul by agencies of lesser culinary ability than my own shopping whims.

Besides salt and pepper, Tabasco, Tony's, sugar free cinnamon sugar, cumin, chili powder, etc. With a properly constructed kit, one could easily cook pebble stew and have it taste good.

As to the above post, I personally know one of the people who does this tabulation. With respect to her privacy, I'll not name her, but she is one of the unsung heroes of Philmont and she doesn't get paid for doing it. The time involved is measured probably in days rather than hours. It's true that Philmont bends over backwards to satisfy the needs of their cusomers. They are truly customer driven.

You would not believe how many hours they spend tabulating all the comments and evaluating them and then seeking to improve upon things using those comments.

I got to give it to them for doing this.

One thing for sure with the meal plan that was improved about three years ago. Well, in fact it went into effect in 2002. There is no excuse for anyone not getting enough to eat or complaining about not enough drink mix.

Maybe it's not gourmet, but i'ts not lacking in quantity for sure.
