[Philmont]: Wind Rivers (Briefly)

As noted by a previous poster, the Wind Rivers is a section of the
Rockies in Wyoming, just over 2 million acres. Includes the Continental
Divide. Extensive wildlife - both Black bears and Grizzlies, plus
mountain lions, Bighorn Sheep, elk, etc., etc. Fabulous fishing. Very
remote, very wild, very mountainous - true "wilderness". The Cirque of
the Towers is world famous for climbing (e.g., includes Pinagora).

We did a trek there in 2001, crossing over the CD twice, as one of our
alternate Philmonts. A great trek. I did a detailed diary of that
trek, including about 200 photos, but it was posted on Brad Jones'
previous website and has since vanished into the mist. I am hoping Brad
can recover it. In the meanwhile, I will try to get my notes together
for those who are interested. I hope everyone will appreciate that with
90-plus *active* Scouts, plus a myriad of District level
responsibilities, best intentions can get buried rather quickly,
especially at this time of the year.

I regret also that I cannot join (or rather, won't join) any other
Lists. Between this List, my District, my Troop, and family and friends
(and the spam), I already get between 150 and 250 emails a day. Without
being whiny about it, I'm pretty much max'd out. It's already
embarrassing enough when I miss responding to requests that I have
already promised I would answer (and my apologies to those on this List
who fall in this category). Anyway, I'll see if I can at least recover
the diary, and if successful I'll proceed from there.
