Between the troop and the venturing crew we have lots of Alps gear.
Twelve of the Mystique 2.0 tents went to Philmont this year, six of them
for the second time. Several youth had Red Tail or Cascade packs from
Alps, several had air pads and quite a number used Alps sleeping bags.
All that doesn't include compression sacks, packs covers and stuff
sacks. For regular camping use the troop has about thirty of the Alps
Meramac tents. These are used monthly and at our council's winter camp
(we use canvas wall tents at summer camp, if available). At Philmont
this year our ranger admired our tents so we got back and sent him an
Alps Mystique 1.5.
We watch for the Alps sales and put together orders at least a couple of
times each year, especially in the spring after Webelos cross over.
Our experience has been great. The only negative I'd mention is boys
keeping up with stakes. :-D
