I don't want to incite a big string of "Yea, buts..." when it comes to
discussing the re-hydration techniques. We use the bags that the
Phil-food comes in. Those bags are PEE-lenty strong enough to handle
having boiling water poured into them. Nothing burns, no need to bring
anything more into the backcountry, less water used, faster
clean-up...what's not to like? If you want a longer Word document that
describes our process, send me an off-line e-mail or go wade through our
80-odd page journal at our troop site (link below). The re-hydration
technique is discussed at length, as well as our ranger's slack-jawed
amazement at it's brilliant simplicity. Well, maybe not slack-jawed,
but he did really like it.
