Rain Gear: Don't Leave Home Without It!!!
A little extra weight can make all the difference between dry and wet. Last thing you want to do is end up wet and/or cold. Even if you don't wear the rainpants, its always good to know that they are there in case it gets too wet or too cold or too windy.
A good raincover is worth its weight in gold to keep your pack protected. And yes, you want to pack everything, sleeping bag included, in plastic bags. They don't weigh anything, and can keep your clothes, especially your socks dry.
