Terry:
You're absolutely right about those white heavy trash bags. Easy to find stuff, adds another layer of protection, and doesn't add any weight. Per your suggestion, our crew this year used them too.
By the way, the last time you had hair, was in a camp staff photo when I was a kid.

I don't know where I picked up the idea but I (and our crew last year) use White, 2.5 mil, 25 inches by 34 inches, trash compactor bags on the inside of packs. I also use that same type bag on the inside of my stuff sack for sleeping bag. Love zip lock bags for clothes but I quit squishing the air out and trying to get the perfect airtight seal years ago. I just fold the zip lock bag over and stuff it inside the white, compactor bag on the inside of my pack. The real hidden advantage is that it is always easy to see inside the pack w/o a flashlight because the sack is white, not black or dark grey like most packs. We live in Missouri, lots of rain, sleet and stuff - I also use a pack cover and I quit worrying about wet stuff back when I had all my hair. The cost and weight is a lot better than any of the waterproof bags really meant for water sports.

So far, unless I missed it, no one has spoken about internal dry sacks. I assume then that no one has tried them. I browsed backpacker.com a bit and did not see anything. In theory it sounds good, but close to what I already do, pack most everything in zip lock freezer bags.
