[philmont] Crew Goodies

This year, we had a birthday on the trail, so we brought a pound cake and frosting to eat on Day 4 (which we shared with our quasi-sister crew (same camps for 3 nights) as a cracker barrell at Greenwood Canyon).  Of course, our ranger had his special treat for us on Day 3.  My fellow advisor's son is on a Cons work crew and Ryan hiked us up a watermelon to eat on Day 4 as well (yes, those Cons youth are all studs and studettes)!  We had 3 advisors, and each one took something special to share at a special time.  One advisor brought 1 lb Skittles, which were shared after a long hot hike down to the Cimarron River from Harlan when we needed a pick-me-up.  One advisor brought dehydrated strawberries to share at Window Rock.  The last advisor brought 1 lb red licorice to share at ToT summit.  All were greatly appreciated at the time they were brought out.  Of course, carrying around a pound cake, can of frosting, and a bag of red licorice puts a serious cramp in trying to keep your pack weight down <g>!  But it certainly doesn't compare to a full-size watermelon that Ryan hiked around for 3 days!  YIS.  Mike ('76, '02, '04 and '07)
