Philpholks: I think we've been talking about two different Comanches on this thread. I think the one Kim originally referenced is on the Rayado between Porcupine and Clear Creek, just short of the trail up Comanche Creek to Red Hills.

Although the creek and its undercut banks and wily trout are very nice, I think I'd have to rate Comanche camp as my least favorite camp from Autumn Adventure 2003. The place was carpeted with cowflops just begging to be rehydrated by the afternoon rain, which lasted into the night. The evening groundfog, pushed by a brisk wind, coupled with the "flow-thru" ventilation system of my single wall Zeus 2 was very interesting. Moisture, while visibly flowing through the tent, did not condense on fabric, such as the sleeping bag or tent wall, but did settle on any exposed skin surface. Unique.

We were pleased the next day to pass the cattle gate on the way to Red Hills and leave the cowflops behind.

The "other" Comanche is actually Comanche Peak camp, between Thunder Ridge and Mt. Phillips camp.
