[Philmont] Emergency blanket?

Joe, I first took the Horse Thief to Philmont in 2001, and used their inflatable mattress. I got tired of blowing it up, too, and used it with a Z-Rest trimmed with scissors to fit in 2003. This time I used a Therm-a-rest Prolite short pad, and used my Crazy Creek to put under my feet. As I posted earlier, the bag and pad combination weigh 36 ounces total. On the coldest nights, I wore a stocking cap and fleece socks to bed, and slept well. Everyone's internal thermostat is different, but for me, it's perfect for Philmont's backcountry in the summer. It's a little warm for base camp, but I can live with that for one night. Here in East Texas, it works 90% of the time during winter, late fall, and early spring. Be aware that it doesn't have a hood. That's a plus for me, since I sleep on my belly, and use a pillow. The stocking cap makes up for the hood on cold nights. This spring, I bought a left zip Horse Thief for my wife to match my right zip bag. OK, that's more detail than you need. I got a full length Prolite for her bag. I may borrow it if I get to go back in 2009. Keith, Any more info on the Horse Thief? I used the Big Agnes Encampment this year and was plenty warm, but it is 1 1/2 heavier than the Horse Thief, which is in my radar for next year. I really like the concept of no insulation under the bag except the pad.
