[Philmont] Coverage on the Tooth, Baldy, Phillips, etc..

When we got to the top of Baldy we had 4 bars (Cingular/ATT)took a picture
of my boys and me and sent it back to my wife (28th wedding anniversary)

OK, I know it's backpacking and we're supposed to be
roughing it, back to nature, etc...

But curiosity leads me to ask how was cell phone coverage
at Philmont and specifically, out in the back country? How
about when on any of the mountains (Tooth, Baldy, Phillips,
etc..)?

When I was there in 2002, cell coverage on the Tooth was
spotty/marginal. We had an adult in our crew whose mother
wasn't doing so well, so he took his cell phone to try to
keep in contact with the home-front at least once day. If I
recall, he was only able to get connectivity when we were
on the higher locations.
