[Philmont] "Fall Into Scouting" Sale

All tents have pros and cons. I don't have a particular favorite to recommend.

I would suggest that it's a good idea to have the boys learn to use a
variety of tents and thereby become more skilled in their
backpacking and camping skills.

It's certainly a good idea to introduce them to the pros and cons of
particular tents and their usefulness in different situations.
