On Mon, 20 Aug 2007 01:38:14 -0700 (PDT), John LeBlanc <philmontjohn@yahoo.com> jammed all night, and by sunrise was heard saying:

> 6 litresof water (12lbs... one camelback 100oz, three Nalgenes),

I typically drank most of it along the way, assuming it wasn't a dry
camp... I don't think we had a single day's hike in which I wasn't at
least down a gallon before we hit camp. If we were headed toward a dry
camp, I'd fill up along the way.

So yeah, 6L was a safe minimum for me to carry. Your mileage (and thirst)
may vary. On our last days' hike, in particular, some of the guys were
dangerously low on water by the time we hit base camp... one dehydrated
enough for it to be an issue.
