John:
I believe the line you're looking for is from an old episode of "Night Court" with Harry Anderson:
"You may be younger...you may be faster...you may even be smarter...but you will never, ever, be CRAZIER...than ME!!!"

Also, most modern internal frame packs have sleeves
built in to hold them....right, John?

That's right Keith! The need it for all the extra weight they have you lugging around just in the pack alone. My Kelty EXTERNAL frame has a slot/sleeve too and a little bitty hole for the tube to go through.
But I don't use it, I just plop the Unbottle down under the flap where it is easy to get to to take out and refill or hang up for that shower I mentioned and I cinch the top flap down tight and since it's a Camelbak whose bite valves DO NOT leak when I put pressure on the water reservoir, when I bite the valve, PRESTO a gush of cool, clear WAT--TER as the Sons Of The Pioneers used to sing.
Like having your own traveling water fountain from inside your external frame pack.
I'm not kidding, it really is nice.

And speaking of reducing the load. You youngsters got an advantage on this old man when it comes to this back packign stuff. I maen you gotta walk and chew gum at the same time i e carry your load and walk at the same time, but I hold my own at it, external frame and all.
But if you wanna loose some ground fast, get me off on my real outdoor tangent-----canoeing.
Just for starters, I paddle Kevlars, both solo and tandem and my sea kayak is a carbonlite. My playboat whitewater kayak is poluethylene as are all good whitewater boats. Just one of my paddles cost more than most Gregory turned inside out packs and that's just starters.
And my canoe/.kayak ALWAYS contains a Timberline tent. Always!
So I warn you ahead of time in case you wanna take on this old man.
Old age and treachery will overcome skill and youth every time.
