Excellent! Point being that a cloth bag is a lot more rip, tear, puncture resistand that just a plastic bag and that's the whoe idea.

Go back a way long ways and in the BSA handbook it taught that a backpack was a bag of bags. We kinda got away from that concept with all the pockets on modern backpacks whether internal or external, but follow that concept adn you can't go wrong.

Same thins with Shanes bear bags. A little thought and you can come up with a solution for every problem.

We made individual crew smellable bags from an old
 (and unlamented)
cheap tent. Each is about 6 x 6", has the scout's
 name on it, and a
drawstring made of a shoelace. contains small
 personal first aid kit
(well, ziploc), a couple of water purification (micro
 pur) tablets, and
any smellables like chapstick the scout may have.
  More lightweight and
cheaper than John's dry bags and a ziplock inside
 keeps anything that
needs to be dry in that condition. They can go in the
 oops bag if they
contain things like meds (we have one diabetic scout
 who carries a tube
of frosting for low glucose emergency treatment).
