On our trek this year we had cables at every site. This will most likely
not be true in the Valle Vidal. Our trek was on ranch the whole time.

What proportion of the Philmont campsites have bear bag cables
present? Out of my last five camping trips, I've only been able to
hang a satisfactory bear bag two times. (not enough branches, rope
gets jammed in trees, etc)

| If it has a smell that doesn't belong in the outdoors, bears MAY be
tempted
| to investigate. If it smells like a stinky human, they usually don't
like
| that. Who wants a bear investigating their tent in the middle of the
night?
|
| We put everything (duct tape, batteries, film, water bottles that had
| anything but water in them, ever) all up in the bear bag. Why take the
| chance?
