I personally am sold on the Therm-a-Rest sleeping pad with chair kit and have
used it on all of my Philmont and other high adventure treks over the last 10
years. I only bring it out after we make camp for the evening. Having
something that I can lean back on and stretch my legs makes the whole days
hiking just melt away. The chair kit weighs in at less than 1 lb. and it rolls
up nicely within the Therm-a-Rest sleeping pad. I use the full length
ultra-lite pad, but roll it without folding it in half and use one of the full
width storage bags right sized for the pad and chair kit together. This is my
only trail luxury. I take care of any food spills and smells on the sleeping
pad with clean water and a wipe with an alcohol pad.
