I agree with the crew budget philosophies already stated. I also have a
twist to add to this for the travel days. Have a crew treasurer with a
ledger, who prepares a daily envelope for each crew member based upon that
day's food/entertainment budget. (These envelopes can be prepared ahead of
the trip at home & sealed with the name, date & amount of cash listed on the
outside...) Each morning, the envelopes are distributed & the crew member
signs for it with the treasurer. This puts more responsibility back into the
hands of the crew members. If a person decides they want to spend more or
less for a meal, extra snacks, etc for the day that is up to them. If they
end up eating less than the bugeted amount, that is money back into their
pocket immediately & is available for spending on personal discretion.
