I would have to say "yes" based on my experience. I haven't had the opportunity to use my LED light for
an extended period, but it met my needs quite well on a recent overnight hike (dark at 6:00 - before
dinner was done, etc.). I would certainly consider it my "first choice" on a future expedition. The
output is comparable to the light given out by my Maglite, just "softer".
 
DISCLAIMER ALERT: I have not climbed Baldy and do not know how well this light would perform on a
pre-dawn hike up this peak. I would feel comfortable using the light to hike to and from Cypher's Mine
from Lambert's Mine for the "Stomp" however, but that is a fairly easy, well defined trail.
 
You may want to consider using one on a shakedown hike and make your own determination.
