Good Points made by SLK. However, after the attack on the group from Arkansas in
2001, the crew was pull back to base camp for a couple of days. Those that wanted to
go back out were returned to the backcountry on a modified itinerary. We spoke with
them at Head of Dean and they shadowed us for the rest of our trek. They were a
great bunch of guys who were determined to enjoy Philmont as best they could
considering the circumstances. I suspect that the decision to return to the trail
would be left up to the crew members after consulting with officials at base camp.
