This would be another one of those personal preference areas that should be
tested out during the shake down hikes. I prefer the crazy creek over the
camping stools. I use my crazy creek either on the ground with no problem,
or sitting on a log with it too - provides back support & with adjustments
can lean quite a way back or even rock in it. For me it is much cushier &
more comfortable than a stool with no back support.
 
Again, different people prefer different things, so find what works for you.
