I have a Nikon 950 and I can tell you that it does take phenomenal photos
outside in the daylight. Pictures indoors or at dusk or later are not so
great because in low light conditions because of the weak flash. I use NiMH
rechargeable batteries and they really last a good while. Much, much longer
than standard batteries. They are the only way to go. You would probably
want to take along 2 extra sets of batteries just in case.
The camera is kind of heavy because it is sturdy. Not sure how weather
proof it is but I wouldn't really want to test it anyway. It has an
articulated body that may it make it vulnerable to trail dust. I guess it's
not what I would think of as a rough and ready trail camera. I think I'll
leave mine home in 2003 in favor of a smaller 35mm like an Olympus.
Hope this helps,
Pat
