After doing some research, I bought what I think is the perfect backpacking
digital camera - the Canon Digital Elph S110. Take a look at the product
reviews on cnet.com
The S110 one of the smallest and lightest and full of quality features. For
a one week summer camp, I took three battery packs, and they got me through
about 150 pictures. I use 128 MB storage cards, enough to collect at least
200 pictures. It also takes movies with sound. It's small enough to carry in
a belt case, or hang on a lanyard around the neck, so its ready for pictures
quickly.
