Wow, thanks for all the replies.
Great information and a few LOLs while reading.
We have several prep trips planned before we go out. Unfortunately like
Illinois, Wisconsin does not have any real mountains but it does have some
great hiking up and down 300 - 1000 foot hills in Kettle Morain.
We should be physically set by then since we are all doing the Personal
Fitness MB starting next Tuesday and continuing all the way through until we
leave in June. Something my dad suggested and helped arrange with the MB
counselor. I'm also going to enjoy watching the adults work out. Opps,
forgot, they read these messages too.
Your replys have already made some changes to gear choices and especially
like the input on getting up early for the trek. Hopefully I can get myself
and the others up early. I'll have to make it part of our prep treks so
we're used to it.
Most of us are heading up to Snow Base at the end of the month. So cold
weather should not be a problem at Philmont.
The suggestion to forget the BBQ and mashed potatoes was interesting. Must
be the brand they use. I like the stuff we use. (TVP) Tectured Vegtable
Protein. Looks and tastes like real BBQ. Perhaps we should bring our own.
As to the CDs and reading materials for the long train ride, is there enough
room in the locker at Philmont to store the entire crew's extra stuff?
I'm sure I'll have more questions before we go. The closer it gets the more
I think about it. However, I think my dad's worse than me. I already know
what most of my gifts for Christmas are going to be for.
