Missed this suggestion in the thread (maybe it was off-line?), but wonder if
the problem with the BBQ and mashed potatoes was an attempt at a one pot
dinner. Saw the results of another crew's attempt to do that at Clark's
Fork - it was not pretty.
Having had all of the meals twice, and a number three times, I have no
complaints with the dehydrated dinners. Measure the water and follow the
directions EXACTLY, and you should not have any problems. Sometimes we
combined the soup with the main course (which will require reducing the
water from the amount if prepared in two pots), sometimes we didn't, but we
always prepared the dessert separately - that is taking one pot way to far
in my opinion.
Unless you have crew members with special diet requirements, there is no
need to bring your own food.
